Description
The RediChek remote features a transmitter this reads the internal food termperature together with a digital electronic food probe, then sends this information wirelessly up to 100 feet away, freeing you from standing next to the oven or grill during the cooking period. When the desired temperature is reached an alarm goes off! The taste or doneness of meats can be determined to be rare, medium, medium well, or well done based on the type of food and the internal temperature reached during cooking.
Cooking a dinner-party roast, holiday turkey, or backyard-barbecue pork loin to precisely the proper temperature not including fuss is a snap together with this thermometer. You can even monitor two foods (beef and lamb, for instance) concurrently, since two stainless-steel probes are integrated, every 6 inches long and every connected to a 39-inch stainless-steel wire.

Here's how it works: program the tool (two AA batteries integrated) by selecting either "beef," "veal," "lamb," "pork," "chicken," or "turkey." Then program to rare, medium-rare, medium, or well-done. The monitor displays the proper temperature--which can be altered by pressing a button. Situate the probe into, say, a turkey. Run the wire from the oven and shut the door. (Door should remain closed until turkey is done so oven temperature doesn't vary.) Plug the wire into the monitor, and open the monitor's built-in stand. Set the clock to the existing time. (Remember, two probes can be used concurrently for different foods, together with the monitor programmed separately for every.) The monitor continuously displays the turkey's internal temperature and elapsed cooking time. (The timer can be used independently of thermometer.) When the turkey reaches the selected temperature, an alarm sounds.

Meanwhile, hook the pager (two AA batteries integrated) to your belt or drop it into your pocket. The pager beeps when the monitor's alarm sounds and works up to 75 feet away, liberating the cook from the kitchen. The probes can in addition be plugged into the pager, which displays a food's temperature on its LCD screen. So barbecuing brisket outside, roasting chicken in the oven, and keeping track of together is possible. --Fred Brack

The wireless range was less than 100 ft., but that really didn't matter because it quit giving me accurate readings within about 30 minutes of use. It told me my roast was at 275 degrees when it was at around 60 degrees. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible.

Evidently the Maverick line 7's and 73's have a major problem with their probes with water or moisture getting into the end. Have gone through 3 probes in 6 months and figured that I would file it away permanently. AKA Deep 6 it.

This device made it extremely easy to cook and entertain guest during our 2009 Thanksgiving celebration. Typically, I would run back and forth between different cooking appliances and guest, but this remote temperature monitoring device eliminated the need to constantly check on the cooking process. I truly enjoyed using this device and will continue to do so, which makes my BBQ gatherings a pleasure to deal with and allows me to enjoy the party as well.

Great investment!!!!
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Great Product If you understand how to use it!!!   2010-08-01

I have owned this item now for two seasons. It works very well. Have used it as an oven meat Thermometer as while as for BBQ temperatures and meat. Setup is straight forward and has not had any issues to speak of. You must understand how to use probes when putting it in meat as to depth, cut, size and bones etc. You may get interference from other remote items and possible cell phones, walls with allot of metal as with other remote devices, Signal is sent on 433.92 MHz,interference if in path way to units and avoid it I have had no problems in this area room to room inside to out.
I have checked temperatures against other thermometer and found it accurate. The preset temperatures for cooking I have found to be a little higher than I like for rare medium and well done. Cook books also disagree in this area as well. I manually input my cooking done temperatures as needed.

The remote would not work when it was right next to the transmitter. The instruction say don't submerge the probe when cleaning, how are you supposed to clean it after 12 hours of apple smoke. Sitting on the counter the probe reads 105
