Great Little Scale 2009-01-06 |
| By EOS (Berkeley, CA USA) |
This little scale is extremely easy to use, easy to clean and easy for me to read without my glasses! I am a professional cook who tests a lot of recipes. Ingredient proportions by weight are the most accurate--especially in baking. The 11 pound capacity of this scale makes it perfect for weighing small batch commercial test batches of dough (5 to 10 pounds). I use it for portion control recipes and portioning out bulk items. I also use the metric measure to translate European recipes.
For the home cook:
The scale uses a small footprint on the counter, it is easy to clean, super easy to use and comes in a bunch of sexy colors. No kitchen should be without a scale and the Escali is the best non-commercial scale I've used.
A bit of advice, as with all scales--handle it gingerly, don't bang it around--don't DROP it. Try to store it where you will be using it. The less a scale gets moved around the longer it lasts. This applies to any scale--mechanical or digital. But digital scales (commercial ones too) tend to be especially delicate when it comes to banging them around. |
food scale fits the bill 2009-01-06 |
| By R. Koslowe (Charlotte,NC) |
| After reading multiple reviews of various food scales available at a reasonable price I chose the Escali Primo Digital...I find it very accurate and easy to use. I especially like that it subtracts the weight of any plate used to hold the food. I also like that it is small enough to slide into a kitchen drawer. |
Works, but not very good 2009-01-03 |
| By Bill Laine (New Orleans, LA USA) |
I bought one of these to replace a sub-$30 scale that lasted about 8 months before the readout went flaky.
This one started by going into some unintelligible error code when I turned it on. If I rotated it 360 degrees it would read '0'. After about a month of daily use it comes on OK. OK unless I have my vessel on it, that is. My last scale, if I had the vessel on it when I turned it on it would start at '0'. This one starts at error code under this circumstance and I have to take the container off and restart, put the container on, and tare it out.
In addition, when I pour the commodity to be measured in the container the reading bounces around a little. If I want 20g I'll pour around the right amount and it will bounce up to 22 or 23 and then settle back to the real weight. If it settles to less than 20 I pour more in and go through the bounce cycle again. There is a couple of seconds waiting for each bounce to settle.
This scale works but it is annoying. Maybe my mistake is buying sub-$30 scales. I thought how hard can it be to make a little weighing mechanism with a led readout. When this one dies, which will probably be soon, I will try a more expensive scale. |
Perfect 2008-12-31 |
| By coachibu2 (jamaica) |
| I was very happy with this purchase, it's tremendously improved accuracy in the kitchen since I weigh rather than use cups. It's a convenient size, can fit into a drawer or cupboard, the tare feature is excellent and makes using this device even easier. |
Great little scale! 2008-12-29 |
| By Kitten (Houston, TX USA) |
| I was initially interested in this scale for the Black finish, as it would blend with my other kitchen electronics, and for its low profile. Having received it, I am very satisfied and can verify that it is accurate (after testing it with flour and sugar packages) and really unobtrusive. In addition, it's easy to use and read. I've had no problem viewing the readout with a 12" diameter mixing bowl on the scale. I would highly recommend this product. |
