Ideal iron for a guy who hates to iron. 2010-03-22 |
| By Jim |
I hate to iron. I used to take my shirts to the cleaners, but that got to be more of an expense than I wanted to bear. This iron has a really long cord - in fact, I'm going to get a tape measure and measure it so I can tell you exactly (I wouldn't go by what the manufacturer says as in my experience manufacturer's descriptions aren't always accurate) - it's ten feet long! (Took me longer to measure than I anticipated, because my cat thought I was playing with her :-) That's a good length and as an added plus the cord is thick and on the heavy duty side.
The digital readout makes setting it a snap (and the water level can be seen at a glance), and it reaches the correct temperature quickly and beeps to let you know when it's ready. Then comes the part I hate, but because this iron is handsome, easy to set, and has that long (10'!), sturdy cord (the length of the cord facilitates maneuvering around the ironing board), the actual ironing part isn't nearly as bad as it could be. I don't have enough experience with irons to know if all irons glide smoothly and effortlessly across whatever material is being ironed, but this one glides along as smoothly and effortlessly as a wireless laser mouse. |
Died after 18 months 2010-03-08 |
| By Mr. A. J. Stewart (Chicago) |
I expect an iron to last more than 18 months.
As usual Iron performed great up until it died. However, I expect more.
The last one died too. Doesn't anyone make anything that lasts more than a couple of years any more. |
Really good iron at a great price. 2010-03-01 |
| By Sean Mccreery (Cambridge, MA) |
| I have bought two of these one for my home and one as a gift. Both have worked out well. All the professional reviews gave it a good ranking so I bought one for myself. It heats up quickly and is heavy, it has all the possible settings you would need et cetera. It is sturdy and should last me the rest of my life. I liked it so much, and how often can you say that about an iron, that I also bought one as a gift. They needed a new iron, I had just bought my iron, and I said hey...I should get them the same iron. I mean I know that's a commentary as much on their need to iron as the iron itself but still. This iron is as nice as you can get without purchasing professional level merchandise. |
Good Iron 2010-02-19 |
| By D. Cole (Sunny Calif.) |
I bought this a few months ago and it is a good iron. I use it to iron work shirts and for piecing quilts. It does its job well- the only complaint I have is that its a bit heavy.

Great iron that died after only 3 years 2010-02-13 |
| By A. Miah |
This is probably one of the best irons I've owned with some problems.
1) The hole at the top drips water when the iron is 3/4 or more filled with water.
2) The rubber plug one the top cover fell out at one time and water dripped out all the time until I was able to recover it while cleaning.
3) The iron is heavy and metal coating is great, it does not stick to clothing.
4) The power cord started acting up and the iron wouldn't turn on until I moved the prong around. Finally dying in a few months. It turns on but does not get hot.
5) I took very good care of the iron and followed the manufacturers care instructions. It should have lasted over 3 years for the price paid.
6) The iron gets hot very fast and was great while it lasted. |
